I'm Pete Walford, although for those that use this board my username is Cov Pete. Unfortunately in 2006, my girlfriend Anna Turney, broke her back whilst Snowboard race training for the 2006 Olympics Since then she has been determined to represent Great Britain at mono skiing and has organised a number of fundraising events to help boost her funding to complete the necessary training required.
.
Anna has an ambition to reach the 2010 Paralympics in Vancouver, Canada. As I write this, she is currently training in Canada for 3 months at a venue offering race training. At present Anna has made it into the Development Squad of the GB Disabled Ski Team, and is not receiving any funding support until she is enlisted onto the main squad.
So, I have decided to help raise some funds whilst she is off training, and maintain the momentum Anna has started with gaining support and money. I will be aiming to complete a three-night challenge of endurance by covering 18km each night on different cardio-based gym equipment.
18km is the equivalent distance to the ascent and descent of the Three Peak challenge, but I will use three different cardio machines to ‘make up’ for the fact I’m basing my challenge indoors!
I am carrying out my challenge on the following nights at the Fit Firm Gym in Bristol:
Wednesday 26th March – Cross Trainer machine
Thursday 27th March – Treadmill machine
Friday 28th March – Upright Bike machine
Please pass this on to anybody who you feel would like to sponsor me, however large or small a donation. You can sponsor me through my justgiving page: www.justgiving.com/peterwalford
More information on how Anna is getting on with her training can be found on her website: www.annaturney.com
Feel free to send any questions you have about my challenge to me.
Many thanks,
Pete
