Newbold bolstered their battle for survival in Midlands Two West as they held on to secure a 15-11 win over Lichfield at Park-field Road. The home side scored all their points in the first half, fly-half Joss Andrews supplying a penalty and try before converting from wide out when lock Kevin Mills crossed on the whistle for a 15-6 lead.

Lichfield, who have now lost seven in a row after heading the table at one stage, pulled back a try going into the final quarter, but despite a yellow card for Andrews, Newbold defended well to close out the game.

Winger Alex Hazell was on the hat-trick mark for Stratford, who maintained their excellent home record with a 38-15 win over Bromsgrove.

Brothers Andrew and Anthony Pritchard also scored tries along with prop Simon Baldwyn, who celebrated his first for the club.

Barkers Butts took the plaudits for their performance at home to second-placed Hereford, who scored two second-half tries to secure a 15-3 win but were fully extended by the home forwards, led by flanker Matthew Greevy.

Kenilworth's third successive defeat in Midlands One, 20-6 at Newport, has put them too close to the relegation places for comfort, while Broadstreet's hopes of securing the promotion play-off slot were dented in a 28-12 home defeat by Luctonians after tries from Simon Morris and Josh Fowles had seen them lead 12-7.

Earlsdon completed a league and cup treble for the season over Nuneaton Old Edwardians, coming from 16-10 down to snatch a 17-16 victory in Midlands Three West (South) with a Darren Perry try and Chris Scott conversion.

Third-placed Old Laurentians kept the pressure on at the top with a 48-11 home win over bottom side Edwardians, while Leamington's good run continued in a 19-3 victory at Stoubridge Lions.

Berkswell & Balsall were edged out 18-15 by visitors Kidderminster, and Bedworth remain in the bottom two after a 28-7 home defeat by second-placed Droitwich.

There was no change in Midlands Four West (South) as the top six all recorded wins over bottom half sides.

Leaders Spartans were tested by Kings Norton but emerged with a 20-12 home win, while second-placed Old Coventrians halted Shipston's recent revival with a 20-5 home win.

Dunlop came through a close game at Evesham, 18-12, while Old Leamingtonians found their scoring touch in a 41-15 victory at Copsewood, but Southam crashed 40-0 at Ledbury.

Keresley squeezed in 10-9 at local rivals Manor Park and moved into third place in Midlands Five West (South) as Dudley Wasps went down at Upton on Severn.

Harbury hit form to beat visitors Alcester 46-9 and climbed above their rivals, who replace them in the bottom two.

Unbeaten leaders Rugby St Andrews had to work hard for a 20-12 win at Coventry Welsh, while Pinley moved into fifth with a 17-0 success at Tenbury.

Long-serving prop Dave Henly was on the end of two line-out drives to claim tries as Stoke Old Boys came from behind to beat promotion rivals Atherstone 20-13 in Midlands Six West (South East) - the front row also claiming their third try through hooker James Hester.

Winger Adam Costello enjoyed a two-try league debut for Coventrians in their 27-11 win at Rugby Welsh, but Trinity Guild were edged out 26-22 at home to Old Wheatleyans despite two more tries for back row Mark Burton and dropped into the bottom two as Warwickian made it two wins in a row with a 20-17 verdict at Coventry Saracens with skipper Matt Webb scoring the decisive try.

Hit by a number of long-term injuries, Coventry club Standard have withdrawn from the division but will conitinue to play friendly fixtures.
