HOLDERS Broadstreet duly made it five Coors Warwickshire Cup titles in a row, but how they were made to work for yesterday's victory at the Butts Park Arena. City rivals Earlsdon, who play two divisions below the Midlands One promotion challengers, led 8-0 after seven minutes and - making their first ever appearance in the final - were in contention all the way until .

Luke Talbot's 81st-minute try clinched it for Street.

It was a relieved Street captain Ed Simkiss who lifted the trophy. "That was hard work - Earlsdon really got stuck into us and they were just fully committed," he said.

"But we knuckled down, played to our strength and finally got it together."

Hooker Ali McPheators touched down for Earlsdon after just 68 seconds from a well-worked line-out move, and although unable to convert from a wide angle, fly-half Chris Scott then added a penalty from 30 metres.

Dan Richards opened Street's account with a penalty on 18 minutes, but the score stayed at 8-3 for the next half hour until - with Earlsdon's outstanding No.8 Andrew Forsyth in the sin bin - the holders nosed in front with a try by prop Jon Cannon from close range and Richards' conversion.

Scott had a penalty chance right at the end of the third quarter, but his kick drifted wide and Street shut up shop for the rest of the game, dominating possession and territory until a line-out drive ended with replacement scrum-half Talbot forcing his way over in the right corner.
