NEIL Mitchell is hoping victory at Cinderford tomorrow will be a launchpad to challenging National Two’s strongest teams. The Stourbridge director of rugby, whose side have won their last two matches and sit just outside the upper echelons of the table, knows a win at the Recreation Ground and another the following week at home to hapless Waterloo, will put his side in the perfect position to mount an assault on the division’s big hitters.

“I have already said to the guys this week that if we can nick a win then beat Waterloo that would set us up nicely for when we play Redruth and Birmingham & Solihull Bees at our place in December,” Mitchell said.

“We could have a real crack at them then. If we could go into those games in fifth or sixth place there would be everything to play for.”

Successes over Southend and Westcombe Park have put the Stourton Park outfit in positive mood ahead of their trip to Gloucestershire, where they will be met by former Bees players Dave Knight and Mark Cornwell.

They will be without Rupert Cooper, who suffered a bad black eye against Southend, broken nose victim Ben Barkley and prop Chris Rowlands but Martin Freeman comes back on to the wing.
