England opener Marcus Trescothick will return home from the ashes tour as soon as possible. England fans will be in shock as the Somerset man has declared he is suffering yet again from a stress related illness.
This shocking news comes just 9 days before the start of the 1st ashes test.
"We are naturally disappointed to lose a player of his quality from our Ashes squad," said coach Duncan Fletcher.
"Everyone in the dressing room hopes that he is able to make a full recovery and resume his cricketing career."
Marcus disappointed in the warm up games by scoring just 10 runs in two innings and after discussing his situation with the coaching staff and selectors, Trescothick has decided to fly home as soon as possible.
Englands fans would have thought he was up for this series as he declared he was "Itching to get going"
The question now is who will open the batting with Andrew Strauss? Cook seems the most likely but England might prefer him to stay at number 3. Robert Key, Owais Shah or Ed Joyce will now be hoping for a call up.
