Byas Believes That Tykes Can Win It

14,215 fans saw Yorkshire march on to the Twenty20 quarter finals and David Byas believes his team can go all the way. "We've put ourselves in a position where we have a chance" said a bullish Byas. It took an hour for Yorkshire's place in the last eight to be confirmed as they waited nervously for results elsewhere to come through. "It's good news" said Byas, who has received criticism from certain quarters this year as Yorkshire have struggled to come to terms with Division 1 Championship cricket. "Results have not gone our way in the Championship or the C&G but the Twenty20 was a fresh start that gave us a good opportunity and we are delighted to have got through."

The bookies will by no means make Yorkshire favourite for the title but Byas remains positive. "We don't fear anybody, and there is no reason why we should fear anybody. This is a very condensed format and one person with a 20-minute purple patch can win you a game...we have got good individuals and we have fielded with really good energy."
