Twenty20 Ticket Fury

Essex have come under fire from members over the way tickets were distributed for Monday's Twenty20 Cup quarter-final against Yorkshire at Chelmsford.
Many will not be able to watch the match because of the county's decision to make the tickets available on a first come, first served basis.

"They have just stuck two fingers up at us," declared one long-standing member, who was watching Essex in action at Bristol last week when the tickets went on sale at Chelmsford.

They were all gone in a matter of four hours.

As the county stand accused of mismanaging the affair, many are now contemplating not renewing membership next season.

Essex chief executive Dave East said he was absolutely astonished' how quickly the tickets were sold, but members have stressed this should have been expected after group games had been played out in front of capacity 6,00 crowds.

Infuriated members were also angred that there was no limit to the number of tickets fans could buy with some purchasing as many as ten.
