Yorkshire lose again in Pro40 to Worcs

Yorkshire hopes of progressing in this seasons Pro40 are almost gone after a third defeat in four games. Worcestershire won comfortably by four wickets with 11 balls remaining after Yorkshire had won the toss. A lacklustre performance with the bat only gained a semblance of respectability after the last three wickets added 79 in 11 overs. Yorkshire had slumped to 52-4 and then 113-7 before Pyrah, Patterson, Kruis and Thornicroft restored some order. The last pairing added 42 runs in 4 overs with Kruis hammering the bowling of Kabir Ali for 10 off the 2 balls he faced.

Yorkshire's final total of 192 would not have sent too many shivers through the Worcestershire batsmen, even though chasing runs under lights is notoriously more difficult. Yorkshire's lack of first choice bowlers seemed tight enough defensivley but lacked penetration.

Lou Vincent and Vikram Solanki reached 94 off 15 overs (after the early loss of Moore) before the spinners slowed them down. Worcestershire lost Solanki, reverse-sweeping; Kruis had Ben Smith caught behind; and the persevering Thornicroft returned to claim three wickets, including Vincent's. When Graeme Hick was fifth man out, just 19 runs were required from 33 balls and the visitors stumbled over the line.
