Pro40 v Kent Preview

Whitby-born left-hander Adam Lyth will make his first-team debut for Yorkshire in the NatWest Pro40 League clash with Kent. The talented 18-year-old has piled up the runs both for the Second XI and the Academy this season and director of cricket David Byas said the youngster deserved his chance. With only one win from six games, all hope has gone of Yorkshire being able to climb out of Division Two and Byas is anxious to give some of the younger players a fling.

Jason Gillespie, who has just returned from a training camp in Australia in preparation for the Ashes series, will be rested tomorrow, as will new-ball partner Deon Kruis.

"We have got two vital Championship matches still to play at Headingley and I do not want to risk either of them breaking down before then," said Byas."Both have got through a lot of hard work this season and I want to ensure they remain fit."

Yorkshire have yet to finalise their side but it is expected that Ajmal Shahzad will be included and that he will take the new ball.
