Rain washed out the final day of Yorkshire's Championship match against Middlesex with the game being abandoned as a draw. Middlesex took 11 points out of the match and Yorkshire 10 and the result left both sides anchored at the foot of the First Division table. The game had been tantalisingly poised with Yorkshire due to resume on 39 without loss, still requiring 236 for victory. A disappointed David Byas, Yorkshire's director of cricket, said: "I thought we had worked our way into a wonderful position and could have gone on to win the match. It was a good pitch and Middlesex were two bowlers down because of injuries. We played some positive cricket and our two leg-spinners, Adil Rashid and Mark Lawson, are very exciting prospects indeed."
