Yorkshire Phoenix lost by 62 runs to Kent Spitfires in the NatWest Pro40 League at Scarborough, with their last seven wickets falling in 24 balls for the addition of just 12 runs. Rob Ferley took 4-33, as a Yorkshire side including nine uncapped players collapsed from 172 for four to 184 all out. With Yorkshire near the foot of the Second Division, director of cricket David Byas decided to look to next season by giving youth its fling. Matthew Hoggard, Jason Gillespie, Deon Kruis, Darren Lehmann and captain Craig White were all rested.

Left-hander Michael Lumb offered the only real resistance for Yorkshire but fell for a team high 51.

Winning the toss, Kent were reduced to 80 for four in 15 overs, Ajmal Shahzad leading the way with three for 30, the best by a Yorkshire bowler this season.

Earlier, Kent's Matt Walker made an unbeaten 74, while Dwayne Bravo hit fifty off just 21 balls with five fours and three big sixes. The visitors finished on 246 for six which was easily enough for victory.
