Yorkshire ended a rain reduced second day 285 runs ahead of Notts with all of the vistors second innings wickets intact. Craig White was the last man out for a superb 147. The weather wins in the end with Nottinghamshire 21-0 when a combination of rain and bad light halted play for the day. The weather forecast is more promising for days three and four and Yorkshire will be hoping to capitalise on their Craig White inspired batting revival.

With no play possible at Old Trafford, Yorkshire's main rivals for the drop Durham were unable to add to their overnight points tally.

- CRAIG WHITE OUT for 147. Yorkshire all out for 306. Three batting bonus points in the bag. Time for a breather and then for Kruis and Dizzy to get the new ball in their hands.

- Can Deon Kruis hang around now long enough for White to get to 150 and further?

- PATTERSON OUT. Ct Alleyne, Bowled Shreck for 17. Yorkshire 306-9. White still there 146 not out.

- 303-8. White (146) Patterson (15)

- 301-8. That's the 300 up and another bonus point in the bag. Terrific recovery after the start yesterday morning.

- 298-8. White (144) and Patterson (12). It's Shreck and Sidebottom with the ball. Attacking fields. Mr Fleming won't want to be in the field long today. Come on Chalky keep him sweating.

- And we're off....

- Going to be an interesting session this afternoon. Only White and Rashid got themselves past 20 yesterday so the indications are this is not a batsmans paradise. Ideally 350+ and then a few Notts wickets to wash tea down with.

- Great news. Play due to start at 1.30 pm.

- Sidebottom will undoubtedly open the bowling this morning and will be hoping to pick up the last two wickets. He has 3-61 overnight and will fancy a five wicket haul on his return to Headingley.

- Could this mornings rain delay be a good thing. The pitch (which I understand Lehmann said was a 160 score pitch) will not have become any easier to bat on. The only problem Yorkshire face is getting the ball into the right areas and keeping it dry. Craig White to add to his overnight tally first though.

- Breaking news. Steve Harmison definitely will not play against Yorkshire next week due to back injury.

- Umpires inspecting the wicket at 1.10 pm. Can't see it being an immediate resumption after that so hopefully we may get some play here by mid afternoon assuming there's no more rain.

- dull, grey, overcast and damp but it's stopped raining

- Good news is that there is no play before lunch at Old Trafford. If Yorkshire and Durham come out of this round of matches with similar points it's still all to play for next week.

- No play - rain. The weather forecast is poor for today but it should be fine on Friday and Saturday so still time for plenty of cricket in this match yet.

- Weather permitting Yorkshire will resume on 294-8 with Craig White (141) and Steve Patterson (11). The Tykes first target will be a third batting point at 300 runs and then add as many to that total. Craig White is the key man today. Yorkshire will be hoping that he can remain at the crease and receive support from Patterson and Kruis.
