Byas Confident For Future

David Byas looks forward to good times ahead after Yorkshire escaped relegation from Division One of the County Championship. Byas believes that the club's form over the last leg of the season has given him confidence that a relegation battle will not be an issue next September. Yorkshire have been favourites for relegation for most of the season. They drew their final match of the season against Durham at Headingley Carnegie after controlling the match from the first morning finished leaving them sixth and safe in the final standings.

Byas said "It's easy to say I always thought we could avoid relegation, but I've felt for some time that our cricket since the Twenty20 competition has been on a marked upward curve and I genuinely believed we would get out of trouble. It's credit to the players because they have pulled out all the stops during the past few weeks. The young leg-spinners have given us an extra attacking dimension, while the likes of Jason Gillespie and Deon Kruis have really come into their own. I'm not going to make bold predictions about what we're going to do next year, but I firmly believe we can challenge for honours. I myself have had great support from the board and I think there are plenty of reasons for genuine optimism."
