Former England player, Richard Dawson, will have to find a new county for next summer after being released from Headingley. The emergence of Adil Rashid and Mark Lawson, the spin twin legspinners, has meant Dawson was languishing in the second team for the latter half of the season. Dawson has struggled for form with the ball this season too taking just 8 wickets at an average of 87.62. Stewart Regan, the Yorkshire chief executive said "Richard was a bit upset, but he understands the Club's position. We now have more spin-bowling options than for some time, and Richard has been playing in the second team on a salary which is not sustainable."

Richard, who made his first-team debut for Yorkshire in the 2001 Championship winning side has played in 72 First Class matches for the county, taking 157 wickets at 41.04 runs apiece, and scoring 2,298 runs at 23.69 with a top score of 87.

In all one-day matches he has captured 90 wickets at 30.12, and scored 396 runs in 56 innings.

This site would like to wish Richard every success in the future.
