Nigel Davies is continuing to strengthen the engine room with the signing of lock Tom Hicks from Saints ..
The 21 year old has played for England Under-19s after coming thropugh the Northampton academy. However, he has only played once for the first team - against Irish in the LV Cup two years ago.
He's obvioulsy looking for more first team actoin and Nigel Davies says: "Tom is a promising young prospect with the ideal build for a second row in the professional game.
"He's opted to join us because he feels we have a reputation for developing young talent and providing good playing opportunities for younger players where appropriate."
Athletic second rows are all the rage these days aren't they?
A change of scenery wil do the lad no
harm if he's been at saints all his career and we need cover.
he's a genuine 6'8" lock who will acquire more bulk as he matures. his published weight is way out of date .he knows how to run a lineout, likes to tackle and he's a worker, nothing too flash.
he was up against Day, Lawes,Manoa ,James Craig, Calum clark and we've signeed a kiwi from Otago called Rob Verbakel this year, so i'd reckon he's doing the right thing, sadly.
