Hollioake lost control of the Porsche as it came off a ramp on an expressway in the south of the city and hit a pylon.

A 22-year-old female passenger, Ben's girlfriend, is in a "serious but stable condition" in a Perth hospital after suffering serious head and chest injuries and we wish her a speedy recovery.

Benjamin Caine Hollioake, who played for Surrey and England, was just coming into his own and realising his full potential on both fronts of the game for club and country and was sure to be a member of the World Cup squad.

The way in which he played the game is what I and many loved. His laidback and cool style in his batting particularly and also his wonderful atheltic fielding meant that he made the game look so easy at times and this was a joy to watch.

To also lose someone so young as well with such promising talent is so cruel.

We can only imagine what his family must be going through at this time. Such a young and likeable man has lost his life in such tragic circumstances. It puts everything into perspective.

Ben was a massively popular guy throughout the county circuit and will be sorely missed by all and I'd like to on behalf of Scimitars send my condolences to his family and Surrey CCC. I'm sure everyone else will join me in that.

Ben won't be forgotten and we all will miss him deeply.
