Steve Harmison says that Durham did as well as could be expected last year given their problems with injuries and that there was only one reason for the injuries which was too much cricket. The one enforced benefit of the large injury list was the chances given to new players coming through such as Ben Stokes and Scott Borthwick who he expects to feature in regular first team action this season.

Not being favourites this year could be an advantage. The build-up to last season was dominated by the possibilty of achieving a hat-trick of titles. When we started badly the pressure increased and within a couple of months we were in disarray on and off the field.

This year the players will be determined to out things right and they'll have the chance to do it without the team being burdened with the favorites tag.

Of course the main factor in our struggles last year was the ridiculous number of injuries, we surely won't have problems on that scale this season.
