Durham sign Reon King for season openers

Durham have signed the West Indian fast bowler Reon King to cover for the absence of Shoaib Aktar at the start of the season. King has played 14 test and 48 ODIs for the West Indies. With Shoaib involved in the current one day series against India until mid April and Harmy in the West Indies the Durham management have decided that they need some cover.

Reon King will bring more international experience to the Durham attack while Shoaib is on international duty. David Harkar likened the signing to that of Srinath last season as a way of providing an experienced guide for the up and coming younger bowlers in the squad.

King aged 29 hasn't played a test since touring Zimbabwe in Summer 2001. He took 44 wickets in 14 tests at an average of just under 28.
