JM expecting a tough workout this weekend

The Saints travel to Cardiff on Friday to play the Blues at their new Stadium. The two clubs met twice last season - once in pre-season and then again in the EDF Energy Cup Coventry's Ricoh Arena. The Blues won on both those occasions as well as reaching the semi-finals of the Heineken Cup.Jim Mallinder says that this weekend's pre-season friendlies will give the Saints squad good workouts.

MALLINDER EXPECTING TOUGH MATCHES THIS WEEKEND


Nottingham are no strangers either after pushing the Saints all the way during the two National League One meetings in 2007/08 and winning the pre-season friendly at Lady Bay last summer.

Mallinder says that both matches will provide excellent preparation for the Saints players ahead of the Guinness Premiership opener against Worcester a week on Sunday.

"Both Cardiff and Nottingham will be strong opposition this weekend," he said. "The Blues were one of the best teams in Europe last season and have some good players returning to their side this weekend. Nottingham meanwhile have been one of the most consistent teams in the Championship for a number of years and we have had many tough games against them over the past few years.

"It will certainly be a challenging weekend for us."

Tickets for Saints v Nottingham are just £5 for adults and £3 for juniors throughout the stadium and are available now.

In theory we could go the the Blues game but it would be good to know the teams beforehand. Last year we were going to Cardiff until a Wandies squad was announced and that proved a good decision because we would not have seen a competitive game. So it looks like Barf v Scarlets for us tomorrow night.

Im off to Bath for the weekend ( buying Brownie points for the season ).. would have loved to have seen the New Ninan Park.. and, was really excited about watching the Saints play ....Nottingham.. dont think so.. bring on the SPA

Well I'm going to cardiff and will be back to see Notts and I am looking forward to both games.

Interestingly we start on Sunday against Wuss on TV just like last season. Leicester were on afterwards too. We were actually losing 6-3 at half time. The starting team that day had only two players now no longer at the club; Spencer and Lamont. We went on to win with a stuttering performance that showed signs of the way we would play for the remainder of the season.
