Afternoon all,
Yesterday was one of those glorious sunny days when it is possible to have too much light - if I have to chose, I'd pick yesterday's light over a dank, dark December day every time. The photographer's room was a busy place with some of the country's big photography guns there to capture a potential Saints move to the top of the Guinness Premiership. You can tell how important yesterday's game was as Dave Rogers published over 140 photos rather than Getty's usual 40 or so. In the first half, I was sat in front of the War Memorial. Chris Ashton ran straight at me for the first try which I didn't get as I am trying to learn when to swap from the big lens to my 70-200mm lens. I am getting better at this but it is going to take practice and experience to get it right. It's also worthy of note that we have played Gloucester in lovely sunshine every time we have met this season - quite a record given the weather we have had. In the second half, I was perfect placed for Ashton's second try and his pass for Dylan's try - my beloved spots either side of the posts - the pros probably think I am mad as my view is significantly obscured by the protection at the bottom of the posts.
As for the match, it was great to see Nacho playing - he is a wily old bird and I am sure the players appreciated his calm presence. I marvel at Lee Dickson's bravery and he was rightly man of the match - our back line did a huge amount of work with the fizzing Dickson at the heart of everything. Chris Ashton is for me one of the player's of the season in the Guinness Premiership, let alone for Northampton Saints. His ability to cut a line and time his runs is just wonderful to watch.
Anyway, here are my favourites from yesterday:

SHENDY
A lovely day to watch the rugby. Such good light makes taking photos so much easier, but I must try a sunny day in the Church’s Stand one day so I’m not shooting into the light. And a great match to watch – the last two games against Gloucester have been among the most entertaining I’ve seen in a while.
My picks of the day:
1) James Simpson-Daniel looked dangerous whenever he had the ball, and a great run to set up the try.
2) A nice one of Long Arm on the charge – must be strange for Gloucester players to see dust rather than mud!
3) Ouch!
4) One for the scrapbook – you won’t see Mr Dowson throwing in very often. I wonder if he’s ever practiced?
5) And what can you say about this man that hasn’t been said before? Bruce, Bruce Bruce, what a star!

Chicken hat man caught DrT's attention - I received a photo of this gentleman's headgear in the second half from DrT. He wants a blue chicken hat as the French supporters wear - we can only find white ones in the UK!
