News: Comeonyousaintsdotcom launches Saints with Heart 9
By COYSDC
July 24 2010
Now we have negotiated with the Saints regarding fixtures, I'm happy to announce that this year's Saints With Heart walk will be on 2nd October, the date of the Exeter game.
Saints with Heart 9 - Full Steam Ahead!
Over on the
SWH board there's all the details you should need - how to register as a walker
(or bucket shaker), where to get all the details you need, as well as details
of how to set up online sponsorship.
Once you're
registered, you'll receive a walker's pack with sponsorship form, route map,
poster and a SWH lanyard. Then you have to go and coerce family, friends,
colleagues and random passers-by for their money!
Feeling
really keen? Then take on the task of walking in another club's signed shirt
and get their fans to sponsor you - and each of your sponsors will then have a
chance of winning the shirt. Details on the SWH message board.
We will
especially need more bucket shakers than in previous years, as the plan will be
to sell lanyards and badges on the day. Those people who buy one (or more!)
will get entries into a prize draw.
Also,
volunteers are needed to hand out leaflets at Saints home games before the
walk, to try and recruit more walkers.
Anyone who
would like to donate prizes to SWH that will either go into the prize draw, or
an auction to be held on the quiz night, please let me know what you have and
it can all go into raising more money.
In total,
over the last eight years, we have raised over £94,000 for the British Heart
Foundation. With your help we can smash the £100,000 barrier this time around.
Questions?
Comments? Random heckles from the back? Send an email to
saints_with_heart@hotmail.co.uk and they will be answered as soon as possible.
Please read the details on the SWH board first, to see if your question has
been answered.
Excellent effort Smurf. Claire and I had the idea that a re-run of the wristbands would be an idea and that we just gave them away with bucket donations like they did with the Matt Hampson stuff. I'm sure it made for a more profitable bucket shake
No alcohol for January. I'm a dryathlete in aid of cancer research.
Im feeling guilty that I will be misisng from this years event - a holiday has already been booked from the 2nd October.. I will be thinking of you though. You are doing a great job Simon - well done.
Having been involved with the Matt Hampson bucket shake, the idea of getting something for their donation (be it wristband or lanyard) really made the folks donate.
Make sure you have plenty on hand and is reserve,(if you are running short.) We found out 'no freebie, no donation'. It might have been just coincidence, but....be warned.
Smurf you are a star. Looking forward to itt already. Breaking the 100k barrier is a real incentive. Let's push that as an objective and raise the bar. COYS.
Simon,
If you think that is sufficient, then fine.
Granted that Mark Hopley went round the boxes at the Matt Hampson 'game' and twisted a few arms, but I do recall that we collected in excess of £1000 (perhaps a lot more...St Ann will know.)I would hate to feel that you could run out of 'freebies'.Although I guess you have previous SWH collections to go on.
Clive - we will get a lot of donations that would be less than £1, and if we're allowed to go around the hospitality boxes than getting a fiver or a tenner still only gets you one "prize"...
Top stuff Simon! as per the Flattmeister I sall do my bit and PS can I take te chuffsite on please a) to try to get a shirt and b to drum up sponsorship medium walk for me please Wer'e orf! toot toot!
Thanks to those that have volunteered to join in the various aspects of the walk - can you please register "properly" on the SWH board, so I can keep track.
