As for the match it looks to be heading for a Surrey victory as it looks unlikely that the Middlesex batting line will be able to cope with Surrey seam bowling attack.

Surrey started the day on 274 for 3 with Ramps and Saqlain at the crease. Ramps soon completed a suburb century by driving Ashley Noffke through the covers for four. Ben Hutton then dropped Ramprakash at second slip but just overs later he took a suburb catch to dismiss Ramprakash for an excellent 110. After lunch Saqlain Mushtaq then completed a half century with some well worked shots. He had reached 69 when Keegan caught him off the bowling off Paul Weekes. Alec Stewart then worked with the tail to score a patient 83 before he was caught slog sweeping by Joyce of Weekes. Surrey had reached a massive 568 all out. Middlesex then survived one and a half hours of suburb Surrey bowling to reach 74 for 0, with Strauss undefeated on 42. It looks unlucky then a fragile Middlesex batting line up will deal with the Surrey bowling attack. Surrey should win the match and keep their status as top of the county championship.
