Surrey suffered their second consecutive national league defeat as they were beaten by Worcestershire by 79 runs. Ben Smith his 93 as the Royals scored 219 for 6 off their 45 overs. Surrey won the toss and decoded to bowl and they soon had the royals struggling at 40 for 3. Ben Smith and Andrew Hall then put on 87 to take the score to 127. Hall was then dismissed for 32 when he was caught by Benning of Saqlain Mushtaq. Smith continued hit the Surrey bowling attack and scored a excellent 93 not out to lead the Royals to 219 for 6 off their 45 overs. Former Surrey player Garath Batty scored 23 off 20 balls to help the Royals to a respectable 219 for 6 off their 45 overs.

Surrey did not get of to a good start, Kabir Ali removed the Surrey top there of Newman, Brown and Ramprakash to leave the lions 28 for 3. Just 8 runs later and Ali had his forth wicket. This time he had Benning caught by Smith for 6. Surrey were now 34 for 40 and in trouble. Things did not get better for the lions as they were dismissed for just 140. Only Adam Hollioake (37) and Saqlain Mushtaq (27) put up any resistance for the lions as they lost by 79 runs. This is Surrey’s scored consecutive defeat in the league and must puck up form if they are to win the league.
