Another poor performance in the tote sport league gifted Warwickshire a 45 run victory at Edgbasten today. Surrey collapsed to 4 for 7 with Newman, Butcher, Thorpe and Clarke all failing to score. Warwickshire won the toss and decided to bat. Surrey took two quick wickets to leave the bears struggling 30 for 2. Nick Knight (23), Ian Bell (32), Trevor Penny (44) and Dougie Brown (28) helped Warwickshire reach 210 for 5. Azhar Mahmood then took three wickets in an over to leave the bears 210 for 8. But Jonathan Trott hit 49 to leave Warwickshire 240 all out. For the lions Pakistani seamier Azhar Mahmood ended up with five for 24.

Surrey collapsed to 4 for 7 with Newman, Butcher, Thorpe and Clarke all failing to trouble the scorers and South African Dewald Pretorius claming three wickets. After this the lions never looked like winning but skipper John Batty hit 52 to save Surrey from further embarrassment. Pretorius ended up figures of 4 for 36. This leaves Surrey with two defeats in three tote sport league matches.
