Surrey are three runs ahead of Notts after day two of their county championship match at Trent Bridge. Surrey reached 93 for 3 in their second innings when meant play was stopped early. Notts added 41 to their over night score with Mark Ealham top scoring with 55. Day one

An amazing 18 wickets fell on the first day, which may attract the ECB pitch inspectors.

Surrey won the toss and decided to bat but, Clinton, Newman, Clarke and Batty all fell cheaply as Greg Smith and Andy Harris took two wickets each. Brown was next to go for 28 as he fell leg before wicket to Sidebottom. He claimed his second wickets as Azhar Mahmood was bowled for 19. The main stay of the Surrey innings was Mark Rampraksh who made 42 as the lions were bowled out for a miserable total of 136.

Nottinghamshire did not make a good start as Darren Bicknell fell second ball to his brother Martin and Russell Warren fell cheaply to leave Notts 45 for 2. Jason Gallian, 37 help them reach 74 for 3, however Khan and both failed to make an impact and when Hussy was trapped le before wicket to Bicknell, Notts were 112 for 6 Useful scores from Ealham (34 not out) and Swann (29) helped Notts reach 168 for 8 at the close of play.

Day two

Notts added 41 to their overnight score as they were bowled out for 226, with Mark Ealham making 55, the only half century of the match so far. Martin Bicknell claimed his 43 five wicket hall as he took 6 for 56.

Surrey reached 93 for 3 when rain called an early halt to proceedings, with Scott Newman top scoring with 40 and Rikki Clarke 21 not out.
