Surrey have confirmed that Steve Rixon will depart as the coach at the end of the season after just two seasons in charge. Rixon failed to agree a new contact after his two year deal ran out. The departure has been decided by Mutual consent. Rixon joined two years ago from New South Wales after Keith Meedlycott left the club. However in his time at the club, Rixon has failed to win any silverware. However he guided Surrey to the final day of the tewnty20 cup in both seasons he was in chare.

Rixon is likely to help Cricket Club chairman Mickey Stewart select a successor. The favourites for the position are rumoured to be current players Martin Bicknell, Graham Thorpe along with second eleven coach Alan Butcher.
