Surrey moved 28 points clear of the County Championship division two as they beat Leicestershire by an innings and 158 runs at the Brit Oval. Ian Salisbury took four wickets and Mo Akram bagged three as Leicestershire were bowled out for 259

Leicestershire were quickly reduced to 34 for 2 with Maunders and New falling cheaply .Robinson an Ackerman added 49. The Surrey spinners then began to work as Doshi took the wicket of Ackerman while Salisbury dismissed Mongia and Sadler. Akram took the last wicket of the day as he bowled Nixon for 12. Leicestershire closed on 176 for 7.

Akram started the ball rolling with the wicket of Masters for 12. Robinson and Henderson then shared in a stand of 39. This allowed Robinson to reach his first century of the season. His innings was ended on 106 when he was caught behind with Salisbury taking the wicket. Salisbury also took the wicket of Broad for 12, while Doshi wrapped up victory as he removed Henderson for 34. Surrey won by an innings and 158 runs and are now 28 points clear at the top of of the County Championship division two.

Surrey took control as Brown and Clarke dominated the Leicestershire bowling attack. Clarke reminded the England selectors of what they will be missing with a career bet 165, while Brown reached this double century and was eventually out for 215. Surrey finally declared for 668 for 7.
