Really looking forward to seeing the boys run out at the mennaye. Hopefully a decent crowd will cheer the pirates onto victory.

Pirates 45 Doncaster 19
A terrific win on the opening weekend of the season against a very big and powerful Doncaster side.
The pirates looked very sharp with the ball in hand and the forwards laid a very solid foundation in the set piece.
3 first half tries gave the pirates a 19- 12 half time lead but Doncaster responded with a converted try early in the 2nd half to tie the score at 19-19.
The pirates dug deep and with good impact off the bench they scored a further 4 tries to run out worthy winners.
Fingers crossed that the injury to 2nd row Steele Barker is not too serious ahead of a tough away game at Coventry.
A great start to the season on a lovely sunny day in Penzance.

Great start to the season against a very good Doncaster team. Pirates finished the game very strongly with the guys coming off the bench making a big impact. As P15 says, hope Steele is OK.

A terrific game. For 45 minutes it was nip and tuck, with the Donny backs looking very dangerous. Then they tired a little and our bench took advantage. We adapted very well on the pitch, sorting out our line outs and scrum, after a couple of wobbles. Our scramble defence and general line speed was terrific. Well done everyone, it was a fun day out. Hoping for a 2000 + crowd against Ealing.

I watched the game on blaze yesterday, and even though as a Knights supporter it’s disappointing to admit, the scoreline was a true reflection of how the game went. Donny looked well off the pace and Pirates always looked quicker and sharper. They won the physical battle and were very strong in defence - Pirates also looked very pacey and slick in the outside backs which I didn’t think was the case when we played them last season.

What was really noticeable was the impact that Pirates got from their bench - you look like you’ve got some really strong, powerful ball carriers that can create holes in opposition defences late in the game. I thought Pirates’ 9 was man of the match, he ran the game superbly.

Overall it was very disappointing from a Donny perspective but I’m sure we’ll improve as the season goes on, there’s been a lot of change at the club over the summer and it can take time for a lot of new faces to gel. We just got beaten by a better side yesterday in one of the toughest away games on the calendar - there’s no shame in that.

Watched the game on Blaze from Leicester and good to start the season with a home win. The stand looked very good after the storm damage and a decent sized crowd in attendance which the weather will have helped. Next week I will be what I call a home fixture(Coventry) but, strangely enough I will be heading towards PZ this day. The bonus is I will be at the Mennaye the following week for the Enfield match then the following week at another home fixture of mine Bedford(need to inform the chauffer).
