Brown Battering Gives Browns Win

Ali Brown hit 109 as Surrey beat Derbyshire by eight wickets at Chesterfield in the pro 40 Division Two. Nayan Doshi took five wicket as Derbyshire were bowled out for 207. James Benning also impressed with 68 as he and Brown put on 155 for the opening wicket.

Azhar Mahmood removed Brit with the second ball of the game and he also accounted for Stubbings for 16. Kumble struck next as he removed Di Venuto, while Clarke took the key wicket of Taylor for 44, to leave Derbyshire 109 for 4. Nayan Doshi then got in on the act as he took the next wicket of Botha. He also took the dismissed Adnan, Welch, Wagg and Dean, as he claimed five wickets. Derbyshire were bowled out for 207.

James Benning and Ali Brown gave Surrey the perfect start as hit a partnership of 155 in just 19 overs. Benning hit 66 before falling to Botha, while Brown went on to complete his century. He was bowled by Needham before the end of the game, for 109 from just 68 balls. So it was left to Mark Ramprakash, 31 not out, to see the Brown caps home with 12.4 overs to spare.
