Shreck Stuns Sorry Surrey

Surrey slumped to a 39 run defeat by Nottinghamshire in the semi finals of the twenty20 at Trent Bridge. Charlie Shreck took here wickets as Surrey were bowled out for 139. Nottinghamshire made 176 with David Hussy hitting 42.

Nottinghamshire had a good start as Swann and Fleming put on 62 for the first wicket. Fleming fell for 31 when he was bowled by Anil Kumble. Swann was next to go as he was run out by Azhar Mahmood for 32. Kumble also took the wicket of David Hussey, however the Australian had hit 42 from 32 balls. England wicket keeper Chris Read hit 23, while Mark Ealham blasted 18 from seven balls as Notts made 176 for 7.

Surrey had a bad start as Brown fell first for 5 and then James Bennnig, who was batting with a dislocated knuckle, fell for 0. When Mark Butcher was run out for 1, Surrey were left 9 for 3. Clarke was next to go as he was bowled attempting the pull the ball for 5. Ramprakash was run out for 19, while Azhar Mahmood was spectacularly caught on the boundary by Will Smith for 21, to leave the Brown caps or 6. Despite some late blows from John Batty who remained 58 not out, Surrey slumped to 139 all out, giving Notts a victory by 37 runs.
