Although Surrey have not made any signings for the new season they have been busy in preparing for the new season. A new captian has been appointed and three players have left.
Adam Hollioake has announced he is to retire at the end of next season. Surrey have therefore decided to give the captaincy to John Batty for next season.
Ian Ward and Alec Stewart have both left the club. Ward has moved to Sussex Stewart has retired from the game. Last week Ben Scott re-joined Middlesex, after leaving two seasons ago.
After deciding to retire at the end of next season Adam Hollioake has been rewarded with a benefit year next season. He will be donating some of the money eared to the Ben Hollioake fund.
Rikki Clarke has made a successful start to his England career. He scored a half-century in his second match for England and also showed that he is useful with the ball. Let’s hope there is more to come.
Surrey have not made any signings but I am sure they will do shortly. Kevin Pieterson is one name that has been mentioned as a possible target for the lions.
