Poor weather in London meant that only two days of play were possible in the county championship match at the Brit Oval. Scott Newman managed to make the best of the poor weather as he recorded his second century of the season. Surrey ended the first day on 163 for 2, with Mark Ramprakash being dismissed on the final ball of a rain hit day. Scott Newman hit 90 but had to wait until the final day to complete his innings as rain prevented play on days two and three. Newman completed his century on day four with Adam Holliokae and Azhar Mahmood helping the lions reach full batting points.

Northants then batted for 18.3 overs before rain called a halt to the match. James Ormond and Martin Bicknell both picked up a wicket as Northants declared on 64 for 2.

Rain also prevented any play in the tote sport league match between Surrey and Hampshire, which was also at the Brit Oval.
