Ali Brown hit a one day record as he scored 268. He beat the previous record which was 222 set by Graeme Pollock 28 years ago. He shared in an opening satand of 286 who scored 97. Ali Brown hit a record 268 against Glamorgan on Wednesday. This was the highest score ever in a limited overs match. It beat Graeme Pollock's 222 for Western Province 26 years ago. Brown hit 30 fours, 12 sixes and he faced 160 balls. In this match 3 other records were broken, Surreys 438 for five was the highest total in a one day match, the highest amount of runs scored in a one day match (Surrey’s 438 and Glamorgan's 429), and the most expensive bowling in a one-day match was Darren Thomas figures, which were 9 overs for 108.

The game started when Adam Hollioake won the toss and decided to bat. Ian Ward and Ali Brown were the opening batsmen on a day were there was a 60-yard boundary. Ward and Brown took advantage of this and put on a huge 286. Ward fell 3 short of a hundred when Robert Croft bowled him. His innings contained 4 sixes and 8 fours. But the hero of the innings was Ali Brown who scored a record 268 of 199 balls. Surrey ended their innings by scoring a record 438 for 5,

Glamorgan started well. Pinch hitter Robert Croft took 20 off Martin Bicknell’s first over. Things were looking good for the Welsh team as Croft went on to make a quick fire hundred. He was dismissed off the bowling of Adam Hollioake. He scored 119 off just 75 balls. David Hemp scored 102 to and Adrian Dale scored 49, but it was not enough to save Glamorgan despite the late efforts from Darren Thomas who scored 71 and Michael Kasprowick who scored 25. Glamorgan had lost by 9 runs in a thrilling match at the Oval.
