Surrey took control of this Frizzell County Championship Division 1 match and are just 2 wickets away from victory. Hampshire are still 84 runs behind. Full match report below plus teams. ( Day 3, Lunch Break ) On the first day, Surrey won the toss and elected to bat surprisingly on an overcast day. But it turned out to be a great decision and Surrey took an early lead in the game. Newman and Clinton got the ball rolling with a smashing century partnership, Newman in particular looking very confident. Clinton, who played the anchor role, departed though after 100 runs were up on the board, which was soon followed by another wicket of Graham Thorpe, standing in as captain for Ramprakash. Clarke came in early at 4, and failed to impress. Then 12 runs later, this minor collapse continued when Hampshire found the vital wicket of Clinton, who reached a century. To be continued...
