Surrey and Notts draw

Surrey drew with Nottinghamshire in their county championship match at Trent Bridge. Notts were looking set for victory as they were cursing at 161 for 5, however they lost 3 wickets in 5 balls which meant they had to settle for the draw.

After resuming on 93 for 3, with Clarke and Batty at the crease after day three was washed out, Surrey reached 160 for 3 when Batty became the first victim of the day as he was caught by Ealham with Smith the bowler for 32. Clarke received useful support from Brown (18) and Bicknell (37) as he scored his highest score of the season with 127. Surrey then made a risky declaration with the score on 292 for 6 as they set Notts a target of 203 of a minimum of 40 overs.

Nottinghamshire did not start well as Bicknell, Gallian Warren, Younis Khan all fell early. Hussy (30) helped Notts recover and at 161 for 5 they were looking strong for victory. However Alleyne was dismissed for 40 when he caught by Mahmood with Doshi the bowler, Ealham was run out for 46 in a mix up and Swann was bowled by Mahmood 0 for as they lost 3 wickets in five balls. This meant Notts had to abandon and game was called a draw with the score at 169 for 8.
