Surry won only their fourth tote sport division two game of the season as they beat Kent by 5 wickets at Canterbury. John Batty hit 82 and Ali Brown scored 65 as the pair shared in a crucial stand of 117. Earlier Kent made 211 with Niall O’Brien top scoring with 43.

Kent won the toss and decided to bat, but they lost Denly early on for a duck. Worse was to follow as the spitfires were reduced to 102 for 5, with Hall the only top order batsman making a significant contribution with 35. Niall O’Brien top scored with 43 and useful scores from Fulton (25) and Tredwell (21) helped Kent reach 211 all out from their 45 overs. For Surrey, Neil Saker clamed a career best of 4 for 43.

Surrey did not start well as Andrew Hall took three quick wickets to leave the lions 25 for 3. Batty and Brown put on 117 as they took the game away from Kent. Batty top scored with 82, while Brown hit 65. Rikki Clarke saw the lions home with 35 not out as they reached the target with 3.4 overs to spare.
