Former Surrey wicket keeper Ben Scott hit 77 not out as Surrey crashed to a 108 run defeat by Middlesex at Southgate in the C and G trophy. Owais Shah also impressed with 76. Surrey were never in the chase as they lost regular wickets and were finally bowled out for just 149.

Middlesex won the toss and decided to bat. However they were soon in trouble as Neil Saker removed both openers to leave the crusaders struggling at 44 for 3. Compton and Shah started a recovery with a partnership of 77. Compton fell for 54 when he was caught and bowled by Doshi. Styris was run out for 0 and Morgan was dismissed by the occasional medium pace of Stuart Walters for 2 as Middlesex were left 129 for 5. Shah and former Surrey ‘keeper Ben Scott added 84. Shah was finally out for a patient 76 when he was caught by Doshi with Dernbach taking the wicket. Dernbach also took the wickets of Keegan and Peploe but Scott continued to punish the Surrey bowling attack and ended up on 77 not out. Middlesex finished on 257 for 9.

Surrey had a bad start as they were reduced 22 for 3. When Clinton was adjudged leg before wicket to Louw Surrey were 43 for 4, Wickets continued to tumble as Surrey collapsed to 99 for 8. Brown and Doshi made the scorecard look respectable with a stand of 34. Doshi had reached 24 when he fell to Peploe. Dernbach was the final wicket to fall a he was bowled by Keegan for 4, leaving Brown stranded on 57 not out. Surrey were bowled out for 149 giving them two points and a victory of 108 runs.
