Chaucer rises from dead to report on ,in his own style, his rising from the Ashes to watch his local team down the road. Meeting Barmy Kev and sharing too many ales may account for quality, but as Barmy Kev keeps saying to Shaggy not bad for a youngser.
I rose up from down under to watch the Ashes day 3. But that finished early and had the afternoon free. So rather than watching the bowling of Peter Siddle. I pop down the road to watch the Mighty Middle
The CAMRA tent never lies. A tale of massive target or perhaps not
I arrive at ground 76-2 for Kent. I decided to head straight for the CAMRA tent I meet Barmy Kev and we order various ales. He clearly is leading me off the rails. Back to cricket at 132-3 honours were evens. But next into bat was Darren Stevens He was hitting boundaries galore. And Kent were building a massive score. 258-4 maybe not enough with wickets to spare Next year the tournament won’t exist so does anyone care?
With the Kent attack being 2nd, 3rd or maybe g string. Middlesex could surely chase anything. Not so easy as way behind the run rate. Hendo run out first ball was not really great. But Middlesex were still in it with an Ace up their sleeve. Boundaries regularly occurred and they started to believe. As the mighty Middle were nearly there. A massive shot high up in the air. It looked like it cleared Kemp and Middx would win the match But he got a hand, palmed it up and took the catch. From a position Middlesex thought they must win. (they were in with a great shout) They lost the match thanks to Justin ( or was it Just out) .
The missing Key. A tale of an English dilemma
While England middle order were doing badly. There were calls for inclusion of Robert Key Today he only managed to score 4. On an easy wicket this really poor Meanwhile Ace scores 130 today. And his England chances are far away.
Barmy Kev. Too many Canterbury Ales
As Middlesex we closing in on target he became very loud. He attracted the attention of the local crowd. He was convinced Middlesex would win. But Ace's loss of wicket controlled his din. I think he was out of it due to too many beers. But then what do I know I’ve been dead 600 years .
