England have been handed a potential injury concern over Kevin Pietersen and Matt Prior, following the recent warm up game in Hobart. Pietersen is to head to Melbourne to have an injection in his troublesome right knee, whilst Prior suffered a calf injury against Australia 'A'......

Joe Root was forced to take the gloves in the final session in Hobart, with Prior off the field.

Pitersen suffered a spell out of the game at the start of 2013, which forced him to miss the home series with New Zealand, and also the Champions Trophy.

It is hoped the injection will get him through the whole Ashes series, and then the extent of the problem can be assesed again.

Spinner Graeme Swann was not too worried about the setbacks, when he spoke earlier

"I think Kev's fit for Wednesday and Matt will be fine."

"You tend to get that a lot. Most of the players will carry a niggle, but the press don't find out about most of them. "I would be a bit worried obviously on the eve of it, but knowing these two they are two of the fittest guys in the squad - despite being among the older guys - and they'll bounce back as quick as anybody."He concluded.
