England have called up uncapped Yorkshire wicketkeeper batsman Jonny Bairstow for the opening test match with the West Indies at Lord's, which starts on Thursday 17th May....

Bairstow will bat at number six in the England batting line up, after Ravi Bopara was ruled out with injury. The gloves will still be taken by Matt Prior though, as England look to the future by handing Bairstow his test match debut.

He has previously been involved with the national side, at T20 and 50 over level.

He get's the nod ahead of Nottinghamshire's James Taylor, who scored 118 recently for the England Lions, against the West Indies in Northampton.

Samit Patel has been overlooked for the squad, having taken the number six slot out in Sri Lanka during the winter tour.
