England World Cup Squad Announced

England have left out both David Willey and Joe Denly from the final 15 man squad for the upcoming World Cup, Jofra Archer has expected, been trusted to lead England's attack as they start favourites to win the competition.  

Liam Dawson is also included in the squad, despite not featuring in any of games with either Pakistan or Ireland, which has taken place ahead of the competition.

England's head of selectors Ed Smith, told BBC Sport of Archer's inclusion " He (Archer) does bring different things to the squad. We saw that in advance and when he has had an opportunity in an England shirt he has shown what he is capable of."

"He's a special cricketer. He has pace, athleticism, dynamism and he can get you a wicket in any circumstances. There was a broad desire for him to be in the squad." Smith concluded.

Squad: Eoin Morgan (capt, Middlesex), Moeen Ali (Worcestershire), Jofra Archer (Sussex), Jonny Bairstow (wk, Yorkshire), Jos Buttler (wk, Lancashire), Liam Dawson (Hampshire) Tom Curran (Surrey), Liam Plunkett (Surrey), Adil Rashid (Yorkshire), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Jason Roy (Surrey), Ben Stokes (Durham), James Vince (Hampshire), Mark Wood (Durham) Chris Woakes (Warwickshire).

 England still have two warm up games to play, against Australia in Southampton on Saturday and Afghanistan at The Oval on Monday.
