Fans Snap up Last Minute Tickets

Desperate England Cricket supporters were up all night on the eve of the World Cup showdown with New Zealand, trying to secure a last minute ticket for the Lord's clash.

With their team ready to win their first World Cup title, tickets have been at a premium, with some re-sale ticket websites, selling them on for up to £16,000 for a pair in the run up to the game.

On the official World Cup Ticket website however, at 8pm on Saturday evening, just some 12 hours before the players were due to head to Lord's, a very limited amount of tickets went back on sale with 'restricted view' for £95 and in a non alcoholic part of the stadium.

These were gone in a matter of seconds though, and no one apart from the ICC will know just how many were put back into the general domain.

We at England Cricket Sportnetwork, were still viewing the website last night, and a 'premium' ticket kept being offered at £395 up until midnight, but every time we tried to put just one ticket into our basket, it kept saying we had 'exceeded the amount available', so again this may have been a glitch or just one ticket may have been available and another person had it sat in their basket for a time.

The whole tournament has seen issues around fans getting hands on tickets, with demand outstripping what is available, but some games, including the semi final with England and Australia, seeing plenty of empty seats arond the various stands.

Ticket prices have long been a sore point with us, and on the eve of England's semi final, we could still buy a ticket in the Edgbaston pavillion for £240, and on the day of the game, there was a large empty section as a lot of people refused to pay this inflated price.

The showpiece event, deserves a full house at Lord's, we'll be watching to ensure every single seat is occupied for most of the day.
