Here’s another MTWD exclusive from Barmy Kev. This news is unbelievable regarding the proposed new facility for training and a potential out ground. Read on
For undisclosed logistical reasons, Radlett appears to be currently not a viable option as training ground. In looking for other feasible alternatives an ideal venue in Bahamas is now in our plans. Kev was sent out on a fact-finding mission with a committee member who wishes for some reason ( hic! ) to remain anonymous. This plan is not as daft as it sounds and it appears there are lot of advantages. There’s perfect weather,a green covered wicket and as you can see below a bar that has Sky Sports.
Kev says the practise facilities are ideal. Here’s him practise his backward defensive. Sadly he left his bat at home but this did not prove to be a significant factor for the committee

There is concern from some players about the 11-hour plane journey. However, having to cope with M25 rushhour traffic, if Radlett was the venue the reality is not much difference.
Given the global nature of the modern game, don’t rule out this eventually being an out ground. If anyone was to say this time last year that Dubai would be venue for opening fixture you would think this is some kind of prank. It has been said this plan went some way in influencing Pedalo Collins joining us.
Ian Luvit is very positive about the idea and I think he said or was it someone else? “the repatriation of Alan Stanford's millions mean that Middlesex has a unique opportunity to exploit this market. The lads had a brilliant time in Antigua and love the Caribbean life style”
When Vinny was asked he said this is just in planning stage and is written on back of fag packet. I can’t say anymore while negotiations are in progress and any further comments must be kept within these 4 walls well 2. He then said “Kev how much have you had to drink?”
A player who also wishes to remain anonymous said “y I man I luv the toon I can still watch Sky Sports and see me Sunderland and hope I don’t lose moy bags when the plane comes in.”.
This hasn’t gone down well with all our supporters. One seasoned traveller to many away games has complained that there is no cheap travel , free accommodation and internet access there. Steve Baldwin has stated that Seaxe Club won’t be running coaches.
Personally, having seen facilities I think this is a brilliant plan and a win win situation. We would be foolish to rule it out.
As a footnote, Kev has already had influence and the stadium has changed its name already to the appropriately Haynes Oval, after our Dessie and venue of our“home” win in 20/20 ¼ final. You think I'm making this up, here's the proof!

Kev also did an April Fool's joke in 2009, when he said that Middlesex had been declared winners of the 2008 Stanford Trophy.
One joke I did initially fall for yesterday was when Iain O'Brien said on his blog that Middlesex would be holding a charity event at Lord's in which they play Arsenal in a Twenty20 match then a 7-a-side football match, although you don't have to think too deeply to realise it was a joke (the announcement was made on April Fool's Day; the date of the event clashes with Arsenal v Fulham; most of Arsenal's players are unlikely to have the slightest interest in cricket; the named charity - Loof - is based in Singapore; it is unlikely MCC would allow football at Lord's). On the article on which it was revealed to be a joke, I wrote that had Sportnetwork not gone down then someone would surely have started a thread on MTWD about it, and had the club's phonelines not been been out of action then the club would have probably received a few enquires.
