Highlight of day

Diamond reports on a really depressing day for Middle. Beer and good company appear to be the only consolation.

Having arrived in Cardiff yesterday lunchtime the transit to Sophia should have proved no problem but a cancelled bus left us running tight for time. Beefy's idea of contacting TFL to complain was of little help.

Got to the ground to meet up with the train crew just before the start. Malan gone before we had even settled into our seats and drum and bass music at 10:30 in the morning,not good. 1/1 off 1 over. Buck follows and it's 29/2, thus it remains to the end of the powerplay. Morgan hits a straight 4 and departs next ball 33/3.
50 up off an overthrow and the crowd is still rather sparse with the Daffodil stand shut for the day. 53/4 Higgins gone for 11. Gubbins hits a caught shot to the Daff stand, not out as the fielder was 4 feet over the rope when he caught it, 6 runs to the Middle.

The next part of our innings is too depressive to report, needless to say we collapsed in fine style till Dexter and Finn put on a record stand to take us to 174/8 at the close.

28/0 when we got back from lunch at the Westgate and the day got little better after the ham egg and chips for £3.95. Did the smoke and circuit routine which failed, even a sit in the unpopulated bar one person family stand didn't buy us a wicket. Got back to my seat and a wicket fell,Glammy 136/1. Sweepstake taken out as to when the game will finish and Allenby's gone 140/2. Goodwin gets done by Patel caught malan and it's 153/3,the sweepstake candidates are falling like flies. Game over soon after for a clinical Glamorgan win and it's pub time with little else for those catching a train tonight to do.

A" few" beers in the Goat Major then the lads away to their train,myself to the bus for Pentwyn and a few more beers before bed and the drive back to Lord's in the morning.

Outplayed outclassed and out of here,not beaten in the beer stakes but well and truly thrashed on the field,little or nothing positive from this shambles I can come up with. Sorry options used and no plan it seems. Well done my second county and hosts for the last two days a job well done.
