A rare sight this summer

Beefy reports on his day with Kiimy in the pavilion, a very busy day for the two starwarts of MTWD, more to report off than on as the rain cuts play down to only 39 overs. read on
Yesterday,sitting in the tavern lower and looking at the pavilion,i text Kimmy to see if she would like to spend Tuesday in the pavilion for a change,she said yep,so,today i report from ' The Dark Side ' !
Kimmy and myself meet up at the Middx shop/office,i have been in there already to say hi wearing my suit,and that happens once a year at cricket.
Kimmy looking splendid in her dress,we both went back in the shop,and decided it was time to go into the unknown,the stewards looking like ice cream sellers welcome us in,and whilst Kimmy goes downstairs i take a quick look around.I have a look at the noticeboard area and finally find the Middlesex noticeboard in a corner with a coat stand put directly in front of it,pointing this out to Kimmy we both agree its not very good.
At 10.35 the first umpire check after a very wet morning,and the announcement is at least 40 Min's before start of play,so we both decide its time for a coffee in the Long Room bar,as we take a place at the front,standing room only,the members start to move out we both wonder what is going on,have they been summoned somewhere?No we find out its close to starting the days play.Soon the bell rings and the Long Room comes to life aah,they moved to get the best seats to watch the game start.All front seats wet,and guess who sits in a wet seat? yep,Beefy did!
The first over of the day is Murts from the Nursery end at 11.30 and its a maiden so its still 105-2,we have Pedro from our end,sorry Pavilion end,just one run off his first over.I say that i think Ped has improved with his bowling hugely in the past six weeks,and I'm not judging this from 1 over today,honest!.
Suddenly,the Middx guys go up,its our first wicket of the day,Smith c Newman b Murts for 65,this in the 3rd over..Soon,Josh Davey dives full length at the Pavilion end for a run out,and just misses running Nixon out.
There is then a huge appeal for a catch with Nixon facing,and he isn't sure what happened we could hear the Middle players laughing and clapping,how did he get out?What happened?How did Malan take the catch?Square leg umpire comes up to the wicket,with Nixon looking the Middle show what happened,and,in true sportsmanship Paul Nixon walks to applause all round.Later,we find out the ball actually landed between Malans lower shin and ankle.Well held my man!Its 117-4,and it is another Ped wicket.
The Middle are fielding and bowling really well today,limiting Leics to just 17 runs in the first hour.Kimmy and myself are chatting and not seen any comittee about yet,i say probably still taking tea/coffee in the room.
There is a change of bowling after Murts and Ped have bowled for most of the first session,Shaggy comes on at the Pav end,he replaced Murts at Nursery end,then TRJ replaced Ped at the pavilion end,both early bowlers getting a deserved rest.
Soon,there is movement in the pavilion,i ask Kimmy whats going on?no idea she replies.We soon find out,its 3 overs from lunch and everyone is going for tables in various places for lunch,as we found out as we tried to find a place for lunch at 1pm.Its 147-5 at lunch,although the PA said it was 147-5 in their second innings! we only hope.
Kimmy and myself finally take lunch in the Middx room,as we take our table i ask about a drink,walk to the bar and Vinny sees me in my suit,Bloody Hell he says(twice) didn't recognise you! I take my seat and Squeaky see us,asks if we had been to a wedding!Roy says we both looked very smart,cheers mate.
Its getting dark above,Kimmy and myself return to the Dark Side and decide to look inside the committee room,we go through one set of doors,but its no further as the two guards in their smart uniforms and bear skin hats in MCC colours stop us going any nearer,we still take a sneak look and there is one person in the committee room,reading a book not taking any notice whats going on,oh well.
We stand in Middle tier watch a couple of overs and just miss a stumping,its 173-5,bowling its TRJ from pav end,Shaggy from the Nursery end.
More movement as Kimmy and myself go the the open air top tier and a superb view behind the bowlers arm.Kimmy sees Lower Pav and we go for a drink in the members bar,at the same time the drizzle starts with the score on 178-5,at 14.35 the umpires say that enough and sadly the full compliments of covers are bought on.In the members bar,i was amazed to see two guys watch the tele that was showing the Middx game outside.
We move into the Middx room at 16.20 and find John from New Orleans in there with Roy.The Committee room has filled up at this point as there is nothing to do but watch the rain get heavier.
at 16.30 the announcement is made play abandoned for the day,so its a wet day and Leic finish early on 186-5.Two dropped catches as well.Lets hope for a better day on Weds weather wise,and carry one our good fielding and bowling.

On Friday I wrote the following three paragraphs: I would desperately love to enter it [the Lord's Pavilion] but I do not own the clothes which would allow me to observe their dress code. I meet all the other criteria as I am a Middlesex member and believe I would be able to behave myself in there.
How my parents influence my non-ownership of clothes which would entitle me to entry to the Lord's Pavilion: I seldom attend events which require me to wear what would be acceptable in the Pavilion as I only go to synagogue once a year (on Yom Kippur, when my mum - who however does not come with - digs out a smart-looking shirt and smart-looking trousers for me to wear, although on that occasion I do not have to wear smart shoes - which is something I do not own anyway - as on Yom Kippur observers are not allowed to wear leather), have never been in court, never seem to be invited to meetings, never seem to be invited to weddings and have only ever attended two funerals.
My dad seldom gets dressed up himself, and as such he also seldom enters the Pavilion. He often tells me that he can't see why people would want to get dressed up to attend a cricket match as he is quite happy wearing shorts and occasionally taking his shirt off. I tend to wear t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms to cricket, although I never take my shirt off.
