Nothing to Report Except Rain

FOR TODAY'S REPORT IT WAS A CHOICE OF A SUMMARY FROM BEECOOL OF HIS UNDERWEAR EATING OR SEAXE MAIN DESCRIBING THE RAIN AND EVENTS BEFORE. I HOPE WE MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE.
After heavy rain after tea on day three and subsequently continuing throughout the evening. Day 4 was called off by he umpires before the scheduled start.
There was further heavy showers on Saturday morning just to make sure.
This meant that the previous day's fightback, closing at 239 for 2, with Strauss on 127no and Denly 15no ensured that a draw was secured. 6 ts for Middlesex and 9pts for Notts. The relative points totals now being 101 for Middlesex which takes us above Somerset and third position with Notts onto 116 and retaining top position. Both clubs with 9 matches played.
Warwickshire are handily placed in 2nd position with matches in hand.
That we saw as much cricket over the first three days in an abject week of weather, owed much to the groundstaff in keep ing the playing area dry enough for play. Well done Vic and co and the magical Blotter.
The sun shone for a couple of hours on Sunday and Thursday encouraging a decent turnout on both days.
Also worthy of mention, was the stoicism of the supporters who bucked the weather forecasts. Those on Fri were rewarded with a fine fightback, and an impressive century from the England Captain Andrew Strauss.
He must have been been pleased that the window in the weather allowed play for the first two sessions on Friday, and gave him some important time in the middle before the First Test next week against South Africa.
Other stats.
This was our first CC match versus Notts at Uxbridge since 1981. As memory serves me, this was also blighted by bad weather, and despite the efforts of Mike Brearley and Clive Rice ended in a soggy draw.
I suspect our first innings score of 98, is our lowest in a First Class match at Uxbridge. Versus Lancashire in 1997 seems to be our previous lowest 118 first up.
Weather conditions were similar to this, though not as extreme, and we lost the toss and were put in on a seaming wicket.

Well done for getting a report together even though there was not a ball bowled on the final day.
It was a great shame because this could have been a very interesting last day's play.
