Another AGM. The financial matters cannot be commented on. We can reveal a cheeky aside, some interesting comments about our coming season followed by an announcement that shocked all those in the room. Read on.
The subject matters of the business side of AGM is of course top secret. However, with his express permission our Chairman I Luv It allowed me to quote this on MTWD. On concluding the meeting he was referring to Resolution no. 6.4.6, which he stated sounded like Jade Dernbach death-bowling analysis against the South Africans.
A mini forum followed after which we were promised would end with an announcement we may not be happy with. Here is a summary of main points raised prior to this;
Vice Captaincy for absences. Rogers no absence expected. 1-day captain in reserve for Moggy is still under discussion.
Rogers’ visa problems seem to be sorted, subject to a brown envelope from Manila and he should be at Hove.
Radlett no fixture as surface not right this year. Will be rectified for 2015
Strong team against India will be played.
Difficultly of fixture list for Mon-Fri working people is down to ECB survey.
Finn is coming on well and looks on form.
T20 signing is Dan Christian.
We would like to see our fringe players play Middlesex League club cricket.
Mark Lane is our director of Academy cricket
Now for the big shock news announcement. I’m still trying to get my head round this. With immediate effect, Chris Adams has been appointed as our Director of Cricket replacing Gus, so he can solely concentrate on his England duties. Adams was introduced to the room to a muted reception. Straight away he stated his intentions for our club. He said the club has worst team spirit he has even seen and we need to follow the tried and tested Sorry model. His priority is to gel the team by arranging night outs that can potentially fill newspaper headlines. He felt our attitude was worst he had ever seen and when losing rather than hold our hands up saying we need to do better, think of good excuses, like blaming the pitch or anything. He felt our recruiting process was worse he has ever seen. Rather then investing solely in youth we need to scout the knackers yard (OK he didn’t use those words exactly) for experience. We also need some unpredictable talent and he hinted Jade Dernbach is on our radar, although I couldn’t take this part seriously as I find Dernbach very predictable. Gus looked very grumpy throughout this talk.
This will all be confirmed officially lunchtime, but felt I had to disclose this as soon as I could today.
