Compo Stars in Last Of Summer Wine

Nice one Compo

Barmy Kev's last live report of the season covers wine, injury returns, presentations (or lack of them) and a fight back from Middlesex.  Thanks for tne report Kev, but please don't move while we are batting.

This my final days cricket this season. It was hoped in advance this would be some kind of Championship decider but that was seen to yesterday. BBC forecast for once was not lying so at least I can have a day in the sun.

So we start with tail-enders Brooks and Sidebottom shouldn't take too long . 4th ball of day in 3rd slips hand and out again. Shouldn't be an expensive drop I thought. Had a 20 minute break away from action and was worried to returning to us being 4 down. Their "tail-enders" were batting like Grenidge and Haynes.  It was good to see Leprechaun returning to Lord's from her injury and she pointed out this should mean easy batting for us. Brooks made 50 and Sidebottom eventually out with score 299. Just missed out on a now irrelevant bonus point and lead was less than 200.  Oh yeah our OR -2 we can still go out of this game with just a point.

The pitch is easy paced so it seems as Robbo and Stirlo takes us to lunch without any alarms. I'm chanting  to Hobo "Champions ur avin' a larf" without realising  this was Beefy's chant for brief moment when we looked good yesterday.

No further worries straight after lunch. Its 87-0. Then  Robbo out just after making 50 as I turned my back.  A fatal toilet break resulted in 2 wickets from Middlebrook. It is now 87 3. 0 -3 spell familiar story? Eskanasi and Compo were pulling it round. I made a mistake of another call of nature now 128 4. I was there for next wicket despite calls from Hobo to use facilities again  Dext deceived caught and bowled by Brooks There was very generous applause; also from Yorkshire fans as he made way back to Pavilion for last time as a Middlesex player. 6000 first class run were achieved during his innings  Cheers Dext.

Thanks for the memories Dex

During tea break I handed over Mala player of month trophy to shop. Having achieved Golden Pair it was agreed the presentation would be put on hold.

At tea still looks like it maybe over today. Then Compo and Franco take our lead of 1. A chant of "1 for 5 we r avin a larf" was resounded  by me and Beefy. Compo achieved his 1000 runs for season, we were talking about when we should declare and there were conversations about points deductions for Yorkshire for being from up North and other spurious reasons . We are now still in contention for Championship.

As my final glass of wine was consumed Compo and Franco were batting with class of Brooks and Sidebottom. We close 274 5 a lead a lead of 81, I reckon we should declare at lunch tomorrow.
