Barmy Paul describes events of weekend from Edgbaston. In searing heat and mixed fortunes Paul has recovered to give summary of play on what proved to be sometimes turgid cricket.

 

Middlesex resumed play with Joyce and Nash in.. Nash on 40* and Joyce 167*. 

 

Nashy quickly brang up his 50 wth a push into the offside. Then Nashy was out for 63 lbw Carter then next in was Louw.  Next up was Joyceys 200 a brilliant knock got a standin ovation from the 3 turkeys there. Louw was soon out for 0 after facing 9 balls. Next in was Pepsi who was soon returning for a swift 2 off 22 balls. Next  in was Chad who made a swift 7 of 8 balls who was also out caught trott  bowled loudon. Next in was silvers who was not out on 2 after joyce was bowled by loudon for a brilliant 211 OUTSTANDING. Middlesex all out for 446.

 

Warikshire first innings began with Knight and Wagh. Knight fell quickly by a brilliant catch by Nash diving to his right hand side one handed. What a brilliant keeper. Next in was Trott who was in and then out for 16 bowled silvers caught by JD. Next in was Loudon who didnt stay long either bowled Keegan caught Joyce. After that thats were the trouble started Wagh made 111 and Ambrose made 133. After that it was pretty straight forward brown out for 6 Carter 15 Harris 0 and Onion 3. Streak not out on 44 very good innings. Warick 391 all out.

Decide for yourself what you think about the bowling figures. What I saw Pepsi was the best bowlers with out anything to show for it. 

Middlesex  batting was opended by the usual Compo and Smith. Smith started very well with 19 of 15 balls then went for one outside the off stump and was caught behind by Ambrose. Next in was Ace who made a quick 20 and played a top edge and was caught by Knight. Thats when we closed up and went very definsive. 2 balls to go JD was caught in slip by Knight. That was the close of play.
