Glamorgan after being in control for most of match edge a last ball three wicket win. Barmy Kev reports on bad predictions, atmospherics and tension from a lively sultry Southgate.

As per tradition for 1-day league the Turkeys have their sweep on 1^st innings score. I go for 282 recalling over 45 overs 300+ scores against Glaws and Somerset previous years. Turkey Mark is least optimistic with 231. With Ed Joyce out for a 2^nd ball Ed Smith on one that certainly bounced, I started to worry about my forecast. Indeed at 26-3 felt like taking a 100 off my prediction.  However, Styris and Rymps steady ship with a 72 partnership. A big total never likely and with 3 overs to go and Ben Scott in, 18 successive sixes were required for me to be spot on. However, 25 from 14 balls pushed us up to a respectable 209 and Mark walked off with pot.

      

 

PRO 40 zac required as Glam coasting but then………….

 

Croft got the Glamorgan innings off to a brisk start, clobbering 36 of 34 and Michael Powell scored a solid 81.  At 161 for 2 and needing less than five an over Glam were coasting it.  Another bad prediction from me stating that this will be over in about 5 overs proved to off mark. Middx fought back in the middle of the innings with 4 wickets for 19 runs.

 

 

Enchanting end.

 

Suddenly a muted crowd got lively. I needed a call of nature and on way back via Waterfall End the volume levels increased.  I got caught up in this and helped our troops get behind lads.  Continuous Middle Middle Middles and Middlesex la la las were greeting every ball, as Glam were cracking up under pressure.

 

 

But Glamorgan Drag on to victory

 

9 needed off last over a run out of 1^st, Then 7 needed off 3. Misfield by Louw, 3 off 2. Poor fielding gave them another 2 and bosh done on final ball.

Oh and a small matter of being picked for England.

 

 

Conclusions.

 

In close game there are many factors you look at. We outdid Glam on misfields, which proved costly. On wicket with bounce where was Silvers? Bad result, if we are serious looking as Pro 40 as means for Silverware Glamorgan are one of the weaker teams in league and we should be beating them at home. I fear we maybe fighting off relegation on 2 fronts.
